Soul has many meanings in religion, philosophy, and science.
In spiritualism, it is considered the pure consciousness in the mind, which is non-dual, absolute, and on par with the universal aware energy—that divine within—which gives human beings the highest intensity, as shown by the suffix -ness. It is that potential divinity, if awakened, that provides intuitiveness, instinctiveness, and innovativeness in spontaneity.
It has the power to watch and witness its own mind flowing randomly into this and that in duality. However, its consciousness dilutes into duality as it activates the cognitive mind to experience its life of dualities, first becoming conscious when centered and focused and thereafter becoming subconscious in lower consciousness to play the illusory drama of material life (Lila).
Hence, even though it is equal to awareness, it is a notch less because of being individualized.
The soul is what makes the brain alive to represent itself as the mind, which is an electrochemical flow of information provided by awareness residing within every mind flowing through neurons via neural pathways.
In science, it is the flow of neural activity; in religion, it is a bundle of superstitions with reincarnations and whatnot; and in spirituality, it is that potential divine within that gives you infinite knowledge to explore and discover the universe.
